The
seas
were
nearly
flat

us
here
completely
dropped
off
as
we
rounded
the
tip
of
Eastport.
The
sky
was
beginning
to
announce
the
day's
end
with
evening
tones
of
deep
lavender
and
violet
as
we
motored
our
way
up
Spa
Creek.
Winding
through
the
fleet
of
boats,
already
at
anchor
for
the
night,
we
got
our
first
glimpse
of
the
Annapolis
skyline.
The
glow
of
twilight
now
enveloped
the
entire
harbor.
Welcoming
lights
from
dozens
of
waterfront
lamps
greeted
our
arrival
as
we
came
to
rest
at
City
Dock.
The
view
of
the
port
of
Annapolis
is,
by
far,
the
most
dramatic
and
memorable.
For centuries, mariners from around the world have been rewarded with this welcoming image as they enter the harbor. And as they coil their lines they, too, undoubtedly experience the magical greeting of the Annapolis "Harbor Lights."
